Jack Made Ben into a Monster

Continuing with "Whatever Happened, Happened" I have yet another reason to hate Jack. With the Dharma doctor off on the other island and Juliet's minimal surgical training, Dr. Jack was the only person present within the Dharma community who could have saved Ben after Sayid shot him. Given all of the hell that Ben put Jack and his people through in the future, Jack naturally declines. Even with the knowledge that you can't change time and Ben is going to live anyway, Jack refuses to help save his life yet again. What Jack doesn't realize is that by declining to help Ben, he becomes the reason that Kate and Sawyer (and Juliet, to be fair) send Ben to the Others for treatment. Richard explains that if he saves Ben's life, Ben will always be an Other. From a rational and emotional standpoint, I support Jack's decision to potentially relieve the world of Benjamin Linus. At the same time though, if Jack wasn't such a dick maybe it wouldn't have been his fate to make Ben into the monster that he becomes. Of course if Jack had a better heart LOST wouldn't have developed the way that it has up until now. Way to go Jack - your greatest contribution to LOST is being an ass hole.
